Configure an IP Phone to Our Business VoIP Service

Configure an IP phone for 2talk service using SIP registration, a number password, and the 2talk proxy.

Most IP phones connect to 2talk by SIP registration. The phone signs in with a number, SIP password, and proxy address.

Choose the password type

  • Number password: A unique password assigned to one phone number.
  • Account password: A shared account-level password, if enabled for your account.

For better security, use a unique number password whenever possible.

Set a number password

  1. Log in to your 2talk account.
  2. Go to Switchboard.
  3. Select the number you want to configure.
  4. Go to Profile > Number Settings.
  5. Enable Restricted.
  6. Create a password with at least 8 characters, uppercase and lowercase letters, and at least one number.
  7. Click Save.

Enter SIP settings on the phone

  • Username / Auth ID: Full 2talk phone number
  • Password: Number password or account password
  • Proxy: plus.2talk.com
  • Transport: TLS recommended
  • Port: 5061 for TLS or 5060 for UDP

If the phone does not register, confirm the password, transport, proxy, and firewall settings.
