Connect to a Softphone

Connect a softphone to 2talk so users can make and receive calls from mobile devices or computers.

A softphone lets you make and receive 2talk calls from a mobile device, Windows PC, or Mac. This is useful for remote work, travel, and teams that prefer to handle calls from a computer headset instead of a desk phone.

Before you start

  • Install the softphone app you want to use.
  • Have your 2talk phone number and SIP password ready.
  • Use a reliable Wi-Fi, wired, or cellular data connection.

SIP settings

Most third-party softphones need these values:

  • Username/User ID: Your full 2talk phone number
  • Auth ID: Your full 2talk phone number, if requested
  • Password: The SIP password for the number
  • Domain/Proxy/Host: plus.2talk.com

Some apps use a combined username format such as [email protected]. If the app has separate username and domain fields, enter the phone number as the username and plus.2talk.com as the domain.

Confirm registration

After you save the account, the softphone should show a status such as Registered, Online, or Available. Once registered, place a test call and confirm that inbound calls ring the softphone. Device provisioning in the 2talk account portal is used for supported desk phones and ATAs. It is not used to configure third-party softphones.
